OSSD is recognized by universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and other countries in the world. Chinese candidates with OSSD qualifications and English language proficiency test scores are eligible to apply to universities all over the world.
Students must obtain credits to receive an OSSD. They can select courses according to their acadmic interests and their future career plan. OSSD adopts a unique assessment model, which usually includes 70% on assignments and 30% on final exam results.
Ontario Ministry of Education strictly inspects OSSD courses in terms of curriculum design, course outline, and qualification of teachers. The courses aim to improve student's learning abilities, critical thinking skills, and creativity skills in an English context. After receiving an OSSD, students are eligible to apply to universities all over the world as a Ontario graduate, which increases their chances of university acceptance.

The online OSSD courses comply with the regulations of the Ontario Ministry of Education. They are inspected bi-annually by the Ontario Ministry of Education. There is no difference between the diploma from online programs and the ones granted after finishing courses at the brick-and-mortar school.
